THIS IS GALERA
The ancestral techniques of pre columbian weaving, date back to 8000BC. We promote the work of artisan communities that are found in several places of Peru to keep tradition alive. Galera makes vegetable fibers into pieces of handmade art. In the elaboration of each one of our bags you can feel the pure energy of nature and contemporary design.
SUSTAINABLE LUXURIOUS
We believe that every one of our pieces possesses a past origin, belongs to a trail (how and who made it), and has an awaiting future (who will acquire it). For this motive, we promote the values of natural fibers such as junco, toquilla, mimbre and chambira. This process is accompanied by our wish to revalue the millinery art and ancestral techniques of the hand-woven pieces through contemporary design; creating exclusive luxury and a natural style that has a story to tell.

COMMITMENT
We are committed to ensuring that every Galera piece is 100% handmade with vegetables fibers or organic plant based that were used in the ancient art of weaving. We do not create any pollution while manufacturing our bags. Vegetable fibers have shaped human history more than any other fibers because they are the oldest, as well as considered one of the most environmentally friendly fibers. Moreover, infused with the knowledge of Peruvian legacy, this reflects the richness of our culture.
We are committed to visiting communities around the country, learning from each other and co-creating together.
We are committed to empowering female artisans in Peru because each piece is handwoven with a special duality between strength and femininity.
We are committed to promoting a Path To Sustainability & Fairtrade with the vegetable fibers as a natural, harmless and seasonless material, as we believe it to be essential to the SDGs.
We’re looking to become a brand recognized internationally for our bags and accessories based upon natural fibers, as well as our corporate social responsibility that promotes fair-trade commerce that is just for Peruvian communities.
We deliver our products in reusable tocuyo bags to reduce plastic consumption. The tocuyo is a type of 100% biodegradable and recyclable raw cotton fabric.
